Who we are

Fabo is a digital platform and a member-driven learning community of 30 NGOs who share costs, resources and knowledge to:

  1. Enhance skills and collaboratively create learning resources
  2. Exchange knowledge, insights, and best practices
  3. Promote learning and peer exchanges

We believe that learning is a right—not a privilege—and knowledge created within civil society should not be exclusive. Although the Fabo membership is intended for organisations to create courses for their staff and volunteers, many courses developed by Fabo member organisations are also available to all learners, wherever they are in the world.

By creating a free user account, anyone, including students and independent practitioners, can get access to a selection of high-quality courses in areas such as human rights, humanitarian response and development practice.

Fabo Learning Community

Fabo is a unique combination of a peer-supported community facilitated by a specialised team of learning professionals, and a virtual learning environment encompassing a digital learning platform, app and customisable learning content​. By bringing NGOs together in a shared digital space, Fabo helps strengthen both individual competencies and collective capacity.

Why join Fabo

Based in an NGO, Fabo works with unique operational and strategic knowledge. We have first-hand knowledge and understanding of NGO learning needs. Our members get invaluable peer support from likeminded practitioners.

Our model is based on solidarity and shared responsibility. All NGOs, despite size and turnover, should have access to learning technology. Working together, sharing costs and resources mean that we can all benefit from the technology and know-how.

The community engages through activities, such as monthly Fabo sessions, community events, and conferences. Members also participate in working groups and a dedicated forum, fostering ongoing dialogue and knowledge sharing. We encourage member-to-member collaborations, and keep the community up-to-date with our newsletter.

We provide onboarding sessions to help members get started, along with ongoing support for technical questions and general guidance on using the platform. We also offer guides on content creation and deliver customised support tailored to individual projects. Regular follow-ups and check-ins are part of the membership.
