From accessing learning to creating it

Fabo is not only a place where people can participate in existing courses. It is a collaborative platform where organisations can create and manage their own learning spaces.

Through Fabo, network member organisations can:

• Create learning sites adapted to their audiences and objectives
• Develop courses and other digital learning resources
• Organise webinars, workshops and peer-learning activities
• Share knowledge, tools and experiences across organisations
• Make learning resources available to staff, partners and wider audiences
• Connect with other organisations in the Fabo Learning Community

This enables member organisations to move from being participants in learning activities to becoming active creators and facilitators of learning.

SMC is opening this opportunity to its members

SMC is putting this network benefit into practice by organising an introductory session for its member organisations on 8 September.

The session was initiated at the request of SMC’s Fabo focal point, who wanted to ensure that member organisations were aware of the opportunities available to them through SMC’s membership.

During the session, participants will be introduced to Fabo and learn how they can create and manage their own learning sites on the platform. They will also have an opportunity to consider how Fabo could support their organisation’s learning, communication and knowledge-sharing activities.

The session is a practical example of how a network can make its Fabo membership more accessible and valuable to its members.

A shared platform can strengthen an entire network

Networks bring together organisations with different areas of expertise, experiences and local knowledge. However, members may have very different levels of access to digital learning infrastructure.

By extending the benefits of Fabo membership to their members, networks can provide access to a shared platform for learning and knowledge exchange. This can help them:

• Give smaller organisations access to digital learning opportunities

Making the most of your network’s membership
