Introducing Fabo 4.4

A Brighter, Smoother Learning Experience

We’re excited to announce the launch of Fabo 4.4, our latest upgrade built on Moodle version 4.4—carefully tailored to fit the unique needs of our Fabo Learning Community. Behind the scenes, this version includes substantial codebase transformations and security enhancements, made possible by countless hours of dedicated work. While much of the development was under the hood (including major security enhancements and codebase refinements), the result is a faster, more intuitive, and inclusive learning experience for everyone.

🌍 For Our Learners: A More Inclusive, Intuitive Experience

We believe learning should feel welcoming and accessible for everyone. That’s why Fabo 4.4 introduces several updates aimed at improving the user experience:

• A Brighter Look for All
  We've introduced a new background colour that supports the diverse identities of the organisations using Fabo. It's lighter, more inclusive, and visually uplifting.
• A More Powerful Dashboard
  The personal dashboard is now easier to navigate, with:
  • A larger search bar
  • Featured courses promoted by your organisation or the Fabo community
  • More filters and clearer overviews of your learning progress
  • Helpful side blocks for quick access to the learning catalogue, your saved list, help, and more.
• Guided Tours for New Users
  New to Fabo? You’ll now be welcomed with improved user tours that explain how to make the most of your learning dashboard.

Playback Speed Options
Whether you prefer to listen slowly or speed things up, playback rate controls now let you choose the pace that works for you—an inclusive feature for all learning styles.

🛠️ For Our Editors: Smoother Site Creation and Management

We’ve also listened to our site creators and editors. Fabo 4.4 includes several quality-of-life improvements to make your workflow more intuitive:

• Seamless Activity Management
  Activities can now be added anywhere on the page with ease, and moving resources is simpler thanks to a new expandable table of contents.
• New “Database” Activity
  Editors can now add structured database Activity block—perfect for courses that need detailed reference sections or searchable info.
• Collapsible Sections
  Avoid endless scrolling by collapsing sections of your course while you work. A small change that makes a big difference in productivity.
• Custom Notifications for Learners
  If you make a significant change to a learning site, you can now alert your learners directly—keeping communication clear and consistent.
• Playback Controls for Editors Too
  Just like learners, editors can now enable playback speed settings within their sites.

Best of all, these upgrades were implemented without affecting existing learning sites used by many Fabo members.

Fabo 4.4 is just the beginning. This update lays the groundwork for even more features to come, and we’re already working on the next round of improvements to better serve our vibrant learning community.
