Learning across organisations: Fabo members join forces to strengthen PSEAH practice
SMC, Digni and DCA into action

One of the greatest strengths of the Fabo Learning Community is the opportunity for members to connect their expertise, resources and networks to create learning opportunities with a wider reach.
This collaborative spirit will be brought to life through Compliance Series 3, organised by SMC and Digni, two network members of the Fabo Learning Community. Angie Farah, Accountability and Complaints Adviser at DanChurchAid will contribute specialist knowledge and practical experience to the series, which will focus on Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (SEAH) Prevention and Response.
Taking place online from 20 to 22 October 2026, the three-day learning journey is expected to bring together between 200 and 300 participants from organisations working in international development.
Learning through practice and exchange
The series combines different learning approaches to help participants translate knowledge into practice:
- 20 October, 09:00–12:00 CET: Introductory online session
- 21 October: One-hour self-paced online module
- 22 October, 09:00–11:30 CET: Interactive sharing session and final test
Rather than relying only on presentations, participants will work with practical exercises and learn through discussion and exchange with peers. This format creates space to reflect on real organisational challenges, compare approaches and explore how PSEAH commitments and effective complaints mechanisms can be strengthened in practice.
The course is particularly relevant for programme directors and managers, board members, programme staff, compliance officers and leadership teams committed to strengthening accountability. Participants who complete the course will receive an SMC/Digni certificate, and participation in the previous Compliance Series is not required.

The value of learning as a community
This initiative demonstrates how the Fabo Learning Community enables organisations to achieve more together.
SMC and Digni can use their roles as networks to make relevant learning available across their broad memberships and partnerships. DCA contributes specialist expertise developed through its accountability and complaints work. Participants, in turn, bring experiences from different organisations and contexts, enriching the learning through practical examples and peer exchange.
By connecting organisations and professionals around a shared learning need, Fabo members can:
- Pool expertise and avoid developing similar resources separately
- Extend quality learning opportunities to a much wider audience
- Learn from experiences across organisations, networks and contexts
- Combine digital learning with practical exercises and facilitated dialogue
- Strengthen relationships that can lead to further collaboration
This is what a member-driven learning community can make possible: organisations do not simply access learning resources, they help create, improve and share them for the benefit of others.
The collaboration behind Compliance Series 3 reflects Fabo’s core approach: learning, creating and sharing together to strengthen organisations and support positive change.
Meet Angie, DCA’s Accountability and Complaints Adviser
Angie leads DanChurchAid’s work on accountability commitments, including the Core Humanitarian Standard, complaints handling, anti-corruption, child safeguarding and the prevention of sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment (PSEAH). Drawing on extensive practical experience in handling sensitive cases, advising DCA Country Offices, coordinating focal points and facilitating training, she played a leading role in developing DCA’s PSEAH course on Fabo.
The course was subsequently transformed into a Fabo template, enabling all Fabo member organisations to adapt it to their own policies, contexts and visual identity. Angie also represents DCA in external networks and contributes to advancing accountability practice across the wider sector.
Why this matters
This case is a strong example of how Fabo members are:
- Turning complex topics like compliance into practical, actionable learning
- Using blended approaches to bridge theory and practice
- Leveraging shared platforms to extend the impact of learning across networks
It shows that when learning is designed with intention and collaboration, it becomes a powerful driver for meaningful change.
