Meet the New Fabo Advisory Board
Fabo members elect Cesar Robles to the Advisory Board
At Fabo's Annual Membership Meeting on 17 June 2026, members elected Cesar Robles, Senior Advisor Learning & Innovation at HELVETAS, to join the Fabo Advisory Board.
The Advisory Board brings together experienced practitioners and leaders from across Fabo's membership. By contributing diverse perspectives and expertise, Board members help strengthen Fabo's mission to foster learning, collaboration, and innovation across civil society organisations.
Cesar brings more than 15 years of experience in knowledge management, learning design, digital learning, and international development. As HELVETAS' focal point for Fabo and a member of the organisation's Digital Transformation Steering Board, he contributes expertise in organisational learning, knowledge sharing, digital transformation, and AI governance.
In his motivation for joining the Advisory Board, Cesar highlighted his passion for strengthening collaboration and learning across organisations. He is particularly interested in contributing strategic thinking and helping shape Fabo's future development as a space where civil society organisations can learn, create, and share together.
The election also marked the conclusion of Vincent Mayga's term on the Advisory Board. Over the past two years, Vincent has contributed his experience, insights, and commitment to strengthening Fabo's member-driven community. We extend our sincere thanks for his service and dedication.
Current Advisory Board Members
The Advisory Board as of June 2026 includes:
- Ritzwan Iqbal, representing the ACT Alliance Secretariat
- Karin Elisabeth Lind, representing DanChurchAid (DCA)
- Christoffer Bengt Meier, Head of Fabo Learning Lab
- Vincent Mayega, representing Rural Action Community Based Organisation (RACOBAO), Uganda
- Lisa Winther, newly elected, representing Digni, Norway
Together, these representatives bring a broad range of insights from across the Fabo membership, rooted in civil society, innovation, and a shared belief in learning as a vehicle for transformation.
The Role of the Fabo Advisory Group
The Advisory Group plays a vital role in shaping the future of Fabo. It serves as a sounding board for strategic decisions, contributes insights from across the sector, and helps ensure that Fabo remains responsive to the evolving needs of its members and partners. It serves as a collective voice for the membership, advising the Fabo Learning Lab on:
- Strategic direction and the formulation of key rules, policies, and regulations.
- Membership engagement and development, ensuring that all members have opportunities to contribute meaningfully.
- Other relevant matters that support the growth, impact, and sustainability of the Fabo Learning Community.
Fabo’s Governance
Fabo is governed by three interlinked bodies, each with distinct roles and competencies:
- The Annual Membership Meeting : the primary democratic space for our members to influence Fabo’s direction.
- The Fabo Advisory Group : a strategic advisory body supporting long-term development and collective governance.
- The Fabo Learning Lab : the operational team that drives implementation and innovation across the platform.
Importantly, all Fabo activities are aligned with the Articles of Association of DanChurchAid, the legal host of Fabo, and are guided by the principles set out in the Fabo Charter. The Charter affirms International Human Rights as the overarching reference framework for social change and commits Fabo to contributing to the UN 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals, with particular emphasis on Goal 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals)..
Composition of the Advisory Group
The Advisory Group is composed of five members, carefully appointed and elected to reflect Fabo’s diversity, values, and inclusive approach
- One member appointed by DanChurchAid, the host organisation and initiative lead for the fabo platform and the Fabo Learning Lab.
- One member appointed by ACT Alliance, a founding member of Fabo.
- Two members elected at the Annual Membership Meeting, representing the fabo member organisations (30 members in 2026).
- The Head of Fabo Learning Lab, appointed by DanChurchAid, who ensures operational alignment.
Members serve two-year terms, elected on a rolling basis to ensure continuity and fresh perspectives. In the first election, the candidate with the most votes serves a three-year term to establish the cycle.
A Community-driven future
Fabo's strength lies in the active participation of its members. Through elections, working groups, learning activities, and community initiatives, members help guide and shape the development of the network. The Advisory Board is one important expression of this member-driven approach, ensuring that Fabo continues to evolve in response to the needs, ideas, and ambitions of its community.
