Turning compliance into action through blended learning
SMC and Digni into action

How do organisations move from intention to action when it comes to integrity and transparency? A recent initiative by members of the Fabo Learning Community, SMC and Digni, offers a compelling example of how this can be done in practice.
Together with LM International, they delivered in March 2026 Compliance Series 2: “A Deep Dive into Strengthening Internal Controls”, a certification course designed to build practical knowledge and strengthen organisational systems.
A global learning effort
The course brought together more than 160 participants from 40 countries, reflecting a strong global commitment to improving transparency and accountability. Delivered in both English and French, the programme ensured accessibility across diverse contexts and audiences.
Beyond participation numbers, what stood out was the high level of engagement, demonstrating that organisations are actively seeking practical ways to strengthen their internal systems and uphold integrity in their work.

A practical blended learning approach
One of the key strengths of this initiative was its blended learning design, combining different formats to support both learning and application:
- Interactive webinars created space for shared learning and dialogue
- A hands-on assignment challenged participants to design their own complaints and response mechanisms
- A final test helped consolidate and validate learning outcomes
This combination ensured that participants didn’t just receive information, they actively worked with it and applied it to their own organisational realities.
Using Fabo as a Learning Hub
Fabo played an important role as the central platform for the course, hosting all resources and recordings in one accessible space. This allowed participants to:
- Revisit webinar recordings
- Access course materials at their own pace
- Continue learning beyond the live sessions
By structuring the learning journey on Fabo, SMC and Digni made the experience more flexible, inclusive, and sustainable over time.

Building trust through shared practice
As Miriam Mondragon, Senior Advisor at SMC, puts it:
“When the SMC and Digni Global Network come together around the right way of doing things, we do more than strengthen systems. We build trust!”
This initiative highlights how collaborative, well-designed learning experiences can go beyond knowledge-sharing to foster trust, accountability, and stronger organisational practices.
Why this matters
This case is a strong example of how Fabo members are:
- Turning complex topics like compliance into practical, actionable learning
- Using blended approaches to bridge theory and practice
- Leveraging shared platforms to extend the impact of learning across networks
It shows that when learning is designed with intention and collaboration, it becomes a powerful driver for meaningful change.
