Thank you for 2020!
As we approach the end of 2020, we would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for all your meaningful and inspiring contributions to our learning community.
2020 saw an increase in membership from seven founding members from the original ACTLearn collaboration to 23 members to the new Fabo Learning Community established in March of this year. What an exciting year it's been! Here are some highlights.
Accessibility project with Disabled People's Organisations Denmark
We were very fortunate to collaborate with the Disabled People’s Organisations Denmark (DPOD), an umbrella organisation for 34 Danish disability organisations. With guidance from DPOD, fabo.org became more accessible to persons with disabilities and is now compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). Find out more about how you can make your learning sites accessible for persons with disabilities on our resource site.
Over 12,000 users and 16 new member organisations in 2020
We reached a record 12,638 Fabo users this year, and grew from 7 to 23 member organisations with new members in Asia, Africa and North America. We also conducted our very first Annual Members' Meeting where we established the Fabo Advisory Group. A huge welcome to all new users, member organisations and members of the Advisory Group. Thank you for joining us!
Capacity-building community weeks, resource exchanges and needs assessment
Lots of knowledge exchange, interesting conversations and exciting collaborations took place this year. We hosted five Fabo Creators Weeks in which we explored topics such as accessibility, collaborative methods and tools for online engagement, and learning experience design.
We also facilitated three wide-ranging resource exchanges on Monitoring & Evaluation, Quality & Accountability and Programme & Project themes with partners and members from around the world. The resource exchanges were based on findings from the comprehensive learning needs assessment we conducted in the spring. Thank you all for participating in these sessions, exchanges and conversations. They would not have been possible without you.
First co-creation project launched
During late autumn, we established a working group on designing a new community hub landing page for individual organisations. Members of the working group are Disabled People's Organisations Denmark, International Media Support, International Rehabilitation Council for Torture Victims, Danmission, Danish Mission Council Development Department, National Council of Churches Kenya, SMC Global, CISU - Civil Society in Development, and Digni. The work will continue into the first quarter of 2021.
New website and tools
In August, we launched our new website created in WordPress. We would like to highlight the news section. This is where community news and stories will be shared, so be sure to visit once in a while! We also created a content library with useful templates and graphics that are open for all members to use. New visuals are added continually.
Our Fabo Community of Practice also saw many developments this year. We created a 'wiki', that collects our how-to guides in one place for easy access. The wiki is a good first place to look for guidance on building sites, learning design fundamentals, video usage and other useful tips on working with the Fabo Platform.
